The World Parks Academy recognises the way we connect has evolved during COVID-19.
Confinement and social distancing has seen face-to-face meetings, work relationships, conferences, and training replaced with the rapid expansion of webinars, zoom meetings, and social media exchange between colleagues.
More timely and efficient discussion of work, issues, and professional development has resulted and boundaries have expanded from regional to national and international without traditional limitations of distance or economy. As world issues unfold, such as equity questions related to “Black Lives Matter”, you can jump on line with world colleagues to discuss implications for your city.
It’s never been easier to participate with your international colleagues and get connected with what’s happening. And now you can attend online education or training with a US perspective, such as Indiana University-Eppley’s Human Health and Natural Environments Certificate or recent Playground Maintenance Technician Training Program. Join international webinars and events such as the World Parks Academy’s recent Designs on the Future: Parks Beyond COVID; World Urban Parks’ recent World Parks Week Webinars or programs of its member associations, such as NRPA’s Virtual Events. Or have the WPA Board formally recognize your national and new-found international skills and experience as a Certified Parks Professional through an online assessment.
As COVID-19 restrictions lift and professionals return to employment, new horizons have opened in balancing physical and virtual work and development.
Take advantage of your new-found access to the world through World Urban Parks and the World Parks Academy.
